We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired word of God, the source and rule of faith and practice. They are fully inspired by God and therefore serve as the authoritative guide for Christian enlightenment, life and ministry.
We believe in the one true God who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. He exists eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son – Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that God the Father is the creator of the universe, heaven and earth. He created us for intimacy with Himself, intending that all creation should live to the praise of His glory. Although we were made in the image of God, all people have sinned (rebelled against God in disobedience), and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is spiritual separation from God.
We believe that all people are born with a sinful nature and when each reaches the age of “moral responsibility,” becomes responsible for his or her sins of thought, word and deed.
We believe that God, according to the Scriptures, has provided a way, one way (Acts 4:12), for anyone to receive forgiveness for their sins: it is by genuinely repenting of disobedience against God and asking for salvation by faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through His sacrificial death on our behalf on the cross.
We believe this salvation is the gift of God and is provided solely by His grace (undeserved, unearnable, unattainable by people), through faith in Christ Jesus. By turning from sin in repentance, looking in faith to Jesus and His death on the cross, we receive eternal life and are born again. There is no other name but Jesus Christ by which we may be saved.
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Beloved Son of God, became man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He died on a cross as a sacrifice and substitute for our sins. Death could not hold Him for He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Intercessor.
We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, convict sinners, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer to Godly living and service.
We believe that upon receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, the new believer is blessed with the inhabiting Holy Spirit. In the new born-again position with God, the believer is sealed by God, and is empowered to live in service of God eternally and of people in this life.
We believe the First Baptist Church of Blue Hill is part of the church universal, the Bride of Christ.
We believe that baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting punishment, of the believer in Christ to everlasting joy with the Lord in Heaven.
